DELRAY BEACH, FL – Enthusiastic fans around South Florida, and even several coming from as far as Philadelphia, finally get their chance to see the film that is breaking attendance records in Chicago, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas.

The highly acclaimed Brown Soup Thing is an official selection for the 2010 Delray Beach Film Festival on Saturday, March 27th at 1:45pm. Writer/Director Edward J. Mallillin and several members of the cast will be present for the Florida premiere. Ticket information is available at the Delray Beach Film Festival’s official website, http://www.dbff.us.

“We are very happy to host the Florida premiere of Brown Soup Thing, which will appeal to more than just Asian Americans,” said festival director Michael Posner. “There is a great demand for this film and we are proud to bring it to the community. It’s a funny, but thought-provoking movie, and it fits perfectly with the type of projects we love at the Delray Beach Film Festival.”

There have been reports of fans that will be driving from Virginia, Georgia, and as far as 1,200 miles from Philadelphia to see the premiere.

“We’re driving 20 hours to see BST,” said Philadelphia’s Meghan R. Medina. “It’s tough with indie films because you never know if or when they’re coming to your city. Our friends in Chicago and Los Angeles have been raving about this film so we’re not taking anymore chances, we’re marking the drive.”

Brown Soup Thing is a comedy-drama about a comfortably disconnected Filipino American family. In order to raise her unacceptable A- average, 10 year-old Lita must submit a video project about what it means to be a Filipino in America. Her upcoming birthday provides the perfect setting to unite everyone: parents who can't relate to their kids, immigrant sister Fely, always-guilty over-achiever brother Jude, hip-hop sister Maria, an array of cousins, her grandmother who just wants to cook, and favorite sister Shana, who moved out of the country to get away from everyone.

The Delray Beach Film Festival is one of South Florida’s most highly anticipated events. In addition to showcasing approximately 200 films from around the globe, the DBFF also features an annual Golf tournament, a showcase for music in a “Battle of the Bands,” a surf contest, and a star-studded array of after-parties and workshops. Several honors and prizes are also awarded to the many films to be showcased from March 22-28.

On the same Saturday as Brown Soup Thing, fans will be able to see Sharon Gless receive a Lifetime Achievement Award at the festival. Gless, an Emmy Award-winning actress is best known for her starring role in the television series Cagney & Lacey and can currently be seen on Burn Notice. Also receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award will be Jessica Walters, best known for her work with Clint Eastwood in Play Misty for Me and for her work on the sitcom Arrested Development. Eastwood’s classic film will be shown at the festival.

Fans will also get the chance to see 2010 Creative Chair and veteran actor Barry Bostwick, best known for his role as Brad Majors in The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

“We want to thank festival director Michael Posner for inviting us to come to Florida,” said Mallillin. “We’re excited to have our work shown in the company of such well-respected and award-winning actors and artists. To have our film screened at a venue featuring the work of Clint Eastwood is also quite a thrill. Most importantly, we look forward to supporting a festival that believes in independent cinema.”

Brown Soup Thing features 2-dozen special appearances by some of the most recognizable Filipinos and other Asians in the world. Among them: 7-time World Boxing Champion Manny Pacquiao, internet star Christine “HappySlip” Gambito, Filipino stars Raymond Bagatsing and Bernardo Bernardo; singers Becca Godinez and Anthony Castelo; and popular Asian-American comedians Paul “PK” Kim and KT Tatara.

Brown Soup Things principal cast includes Kimee J. Balmilero (Hi-5, Miss Saigon), Jenilee A. Reyes (Deal or No Deal), Cheryl Noe (The Bold & The Beautiful), comedian Joey Guila (HBO’s P Diddy’s Bad Boys of Comedy), and Rona Par (The Flip Side). BST is also proud to introduce Earl Baylon (The Tonight Show), Wil Olandria (LA Forensics), and Nickelodeon’s Sari Arambulo, all starring in their first feature film.

Brown Soup Thing is an official selection of Florida’s Delray Beach Film Festival, the Filipino International Film Festival Los Angeles, the Pacific Media Expo (PMX) in Los Angeles, the Chicago Filipino American Film Festival, and was the featured film at the UNLV FASA Screening Series.

Mallillin, who is currently shooting his second feature film (slated for a 2011 release), is also the host and executive producer of the hugely popular internet series Flipped Switch, which will provide fans with exclusive coverage of Brown Soup Thing's weekend in Florida. Among the many guests who have appeared on the show: director Quentin Tarantino, actor Neil Patrick Harris, UFC champion Randy Couture, and Filipino personalities such as Jo Koy and Camille Velasco.
